PARIS, France - Luanda, Angola-native Maria Borges will join the likes of Liya Kebede and Eva Longoria as the latest spokesmodel for global beauty brand L'Oréal Paris. Raised in the context of Angola's civil war that began in 1975 and ended in 2002, Borges began her modeling career at a young age, placing second at a local teen competition before being signed by major agencies in the US and Europe. Her booking as a Givenchy exclusive quickly catapulted Borges into a runway regular for Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Dior among others. Remarkably, Borges is the first black model to walk the Victoria's Secret show with her natural hair. A round of applause is in order for a woman who transformed her adverse circumstances into major international success.
